(Part-time Occasional Basis for the 2019/20 academic year)
The Admissions Office invites applications from Maynooth graduates and/or current Maynooth University postgraduate students who would be interested in actively promoting the University and its undergraduate programmes of study at careers exhibitions in the forthcoming academic year 2019/20. The person appointed will be joining a team who have had considerable success in working with colleagues across the University in increasing student applications and the intake of new students to Maynooth University. Career exhibitions take place nationwide and may occur during the day and/or in the evening. The job involves giving advice on the breadth of the choices at Maynooth University, including opportunities for flexibility across the full range of disciplines. It is envisaged that most of the exhibition work will be in the first semester and will involve working proactively at approximately 25 events in total (normally between September and December). Training (both on and off-the job) will be provided to ensure the successful applicant has the required knowledge to impart to potential applicants – however, it is expected that the successful applicant will be proactive and take responsibility for developing their own knowledge of the programmes through their independent research on the university website and prospectus. The job may also involve participating in mature applicant interviews, sport scholarship applicant interviews as well as Transition Year and Maynooth Summer School activities on an occasional basis at other times during the academic year. This work may equate to approximately one months’ work over a five-month period from February to June inclusive.
Job attributes: An interest in promoting higher education to diverse audiences and imparting your knowledge of an exciting and challenging undergraduate experience at Maynooth e.g. school leavers, matures and QQI applicants. 1. Experience in giving presentations to a variety of audiences. 2. Applicants must have a genuine enthusiasm to promote the University proactively. 3. A friendly, confident, professional disposition is essential. 4. A demonstrated work ethic and an interest in working in a results oriented environment. 5. Strong interest in understanding and learning more about the University and our programmes of study. 6. Experience of having worked in an administrative setting will be advantageous. 7. Preference will be given to applicants who have had work experience in a customer or client services environment. Job Requirements: 1. Applicants should be graduates of Maynooth University and/or current Maynooth University postgraduates. 2. A full, clean driving licence with access to a car. Payment: 1. The successful candidate will receive payment on an hourly basis for the time involved in each exhibition as well as travelling expenses. Payment for other work based at the University will be on an hourly basis only.
