Paper Abstract
BIM Technology has been emerged to create digital twin for building projects. A digital twin can aid construction projects by accelerating and automating traditional design, production, and operational processes. As such, it can serve as the backbone for prefabrication and as a more significant means for achieving industrialized efficiency.
The buildings information is invaluable asset to provide and deliver a timely and professional services, (e.g., energy management). Nowadays, buildings are equipped with immense number of IoT and smart devices. These devices are producing a vast amount of live data about the building. Typically, the captured information from different information sources is stored in heterogeneous repositories. Various information resources together with the live data can be used to improve efficiency of services to the habitants.
Building information is created in various software environments in the form of drawings, plans and many more. These environments are not necessarily able to exchange information with each other. This issue leads to the challenges like missing connection between digital information environments; missing connection between digital information creation environments and digital devices; and missing connection due to lack of digital skills.
The suggested research topic for these challenges is enabling information exchange between software environments, digital devices, and other sources of digital buildings information.
