The Maynooth University MA Scholarship in Early Irish and Celtic Studies for 2019-20 has been awarded to Niamh McDaid. Niamh is a final-year undergraduate at University College Cork, where she is studying for a joint honours degree in Modern Irish and Celtic Civilisation. Niamh has volunteered on the CELT project and in UCC's Archives and Special Collections, and she will spend this summer working with Professor Pádraig Ó Macháin on his Watermarks project. She has twice been a finalist in the National Poetry Aloud Competition and was the recipient of a Scoláireacht Ghaeltachta (Gaeltacht Scholarship) from UCC to attend the residential Irish programme at Baile an Fheirtéaraigh in 2018. During the MA in Medieval Irish Studies at Maynooth, Niamh intends to produce a new edition and translation of the medieval Irish tale Orcuin Néill Noígíallaig. We look forward to welcoming her to Maynooth!
