David Mangan is Global Professor at KU Leuven, Faculty of Law

Monday, November 14, 2022 - 14:00

Dr David Mangan was invited to be a Global Professor at KU Leuven. This position includes delivering a week-long course on a developing topic that is taught during KU Leuven Faculty of Law’s Global Week. David’s course, Labour Law & the Digital Economy, considers common and civil law approaches to platform labour. The course takes students through interdisciplinary responses to the employment law and policy aspects of the digital economy, including developing an understanding of how platform companies’ business models have worked within the current regulatory framework. Students consider examples from various countries, including the European Union’s proposed Platform Work Directive. David will remain with KU Leuven’s Institute for Labour Law for the academic year as he continues with joint research projects with Professor Frank Hendrickx, such as Privacy@Work (an EU-wide consideration of the right to privacy at work), as well as on-going work with the European Labour Law Journal (amongst other projects).
