We are thrilled to announce that the Legal Tech Society has won "Best New Society" at the 28th Maynooth University Annual Clubs & Societies Awards Ceremony! Ireland's first student-led society to combine the disciplines of law and technology is approaching a year of being operational, and is continually advancing the legal-tech sphere on campus. LL.B. students Martin Holohan Jr and Carol Ann Browne are hugely grateful to lecturer at The School of Law and Criminology Dr David Cowan, who inspired them to set up the society.

Technology is such a massive and complex sector, that is changing how the area of law is being viewed. This intersection of law and technology needs its own dedicated space to be explored, debated, and discussed. The Legal Tech Society is that space. Their events have included inviting guest speakers such as Sorcha McKeown, a Privacy Analyst at Logitech, and Paul Cleary, Detective Chief Superintendent of the National Cyber Crime Bureau at An Garda Síochána to give talks about their respective fields. The Legal Tech Society shows students that there is a substantial future in this up-and-coming sector by collaborating with organisations such as Spin Up Science, Maynooth Works, and PeerGrid, allowing members to network, showcase their talents and win prizes for their ideas.
