Dr. Ciarán Mac an Bhaird, Maynooth University Mathematics & Statistics Department, visited local schools, including Scoil Dara, Kilcock, during Maths Week. He worked with students on Fibonacci numbers, the Golden Ratio, and Pentagons, and also on using geometry to prove algebraic identities and how to use these identities to do calculations with large numbers in your head.
Dr. Fiacre Ó Cairbre gave a talk to the Transition Year Group at Castleknock Community College and appeared on LMFM (Louth Meath FM radio) where he told stories from the world of mathematics.
Dr. David Wraith, Maynooth University Mathematics & Statistics Department visited Loreto College Swords to lead an afternoon of mathematical problem solving. This was attended by around eighty students aged 15-16.
