Campus Traffic Arrangement Update

Sunday, September 1, 2019 - 11:00

Works have been underway over the last 6 weeks to enable the re-establishment of a two-way traffic arrangement on the campus ring road by the start of term. This involved carrying out minor alterations to road junctions, bends and signage to enable improved two-way vehicular access. The majority of these works are complete, and all road related works are scheduled to be complete within the next week.
We apologise for the disruption and the appearance of the road during these works, however we really want to get this work done quickly, to minimise traffic problems at the Moyglare Gate as the campus population returns to full capacity with the start of term.

During the ongoing works period, all vehicles will continue to exit the campus via the Moyglare gate.

We will switch to the 2-way traffic arrangement as soon as it is safe to do so, and hope that will be within the next week.
We will send further information in advance of the switchover.

Please take extra care in driving around the time of the switchover, go more slowly than usual, take care to stay on the correct side of the road, and be alert for other drivers.

Semester 1 Interim Bus and Car Parking Arrangements

As part of the traffic and commuting development, we will construct a new bus park and car park west of the Phoenix building which will accommodate up to 16 buses and provide 342 car parking spaces.

However as these will not be available until later in the academic year, we are putting in place interim arrangements as follows:
• Temporary bus parking facilities in the Library car park.
• Temporary Parking between the Bioscience and Eolas buildings (80 car spaces)
• Access to additional car parking capacity at the rear of St Marys on the South Campus (30 car spaces)
• Additional parking capacity in the Iontas car park by relocating the contractors compound (17 car spaces)
We appreciate your patience as we make these changes.
