On 29 April, the Department of Law at Maynooth University were delighted to virtually host the early career research event entitled ‘New Frontiers, Contemporary Challenges and Intersections in Legal Research’, in collaboration with the Department of Law at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UniMoRE).

The event, that was jointly opened by the Heads of the two Departments, Prof. Michael Doherty and Prof. Carmelo Elio Tavilla, provided PhD researchers at both universities with the opportunity to present their ongoing work.

The two panels, chaired by Dr. Louise Kennefick and Prof. Maria Cecilia Fregni, included a wide range of topics discussed, from witness protection to religious freedom, from the right to be forgotten to Common Heritage of Mankind in International Law, with all panels followed by supportive and stimulating Q&A sessions.

The event ended with a review of some broader research being carried out within the respective Departments, by Dr. Avril Brandon from Maynooth and Prof. Vincenzo Pacillo from UniMoRE,  prompting opportunities for further international collaboration.

Prof. Delia Ferri and Prof. Alberto Tampieri, who coordinate the PhD programmes in Maynooth and at UNiMoRE respectively, would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the PhD researchers who gave such engaging presentations, and to all who attended. We look forward to hosting this event - hopefully in person - in 2022.
