Dr Edana Richardson presented the paper “Teaching Company Law through Practice” at the Irish Association of Law Teachers (IALT) 2021 Conference

Dr Edana Richardson presented Dr Cliodhna Murphy’s and her paper “Teaching Company Law through Practice” at the Irish Association of Law Teachers (IALT) 2021 conference in Cork. This paper discussed an innovative company law portfolio assignment that Dr Murphy and Dr Richardson have created and implemented in their company law classes, through which students follow the process of incorporating a company of their own design in Ireland. This assignment is structured to give students an opportunity to learn by doing and to experience how the theoretical foundations of company law guide and influence practice.
 
Dr Murphy and Dr Richardson both teach company law at Maynooth University.
