Foundations for Futures Europe
Thursday, October 7, 2021 - 15:45

Maynooth University’s commitment to community engaged learning has taken another step forward with the successful award of funding under the Europe for Citizens programme for The Foundations for Futures Europe (FFE) project. The project is led by Maynooth University colleagues Dr Derek Barter (Department of Adult and Community Education) and Jennifer Lloyd Hughes, Civic Engagement Coordinator with MU’s Experiential Learning Office.  It brings together Higher Education Institutions and Civil Society organisations for a unique blend of academic and practice-based approaches to engage citizens in thinking about, discussing, and informing policy in relation to the challenges that lie ahead for Europe in the coming decades.

On 19 Nov. 2021 Maynooth University as the lead partner will host our colleagues from the university of Novi Sad, Serbia; The European Anti-Poverty Network, Ireland; The Hellenic Anti-Poverty Network, Greece; Pecs University, Hungary and URKRAFT, Sweden at the opening symposium. The event will be addressed by the new President of Maynooth University Prof Eeva Leinonen and will be followed by key note addresses on Climate, Equality and Social Inclusion.

As to be expected Maynooth University brings its own unique approach to widening the conversation about the future challenges facing the European continent by encouraging broad spectrum of participants from our Communiversity partners, adult education and community based service providers along with Maynooth University students and our academic colleagues from within this university and further afield.

Information regarding registration for this event will follow shortly.
