Congratulations to Dr Nicola MountfordSchool of Business Maynooth University who has received one of 4 Maynooth University Teaching Awards for the academic year 2020–2021. These awards aim to acknowledge the efforts of outstanding individuals or teams that contribute to excellence and innovation in teaching and learning across Maynooth University and enhance student learning. Dr Mountford’s award recognises her teaching and scholarship on practice-engaged and interdisciplinary education at both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) level. At UG level her 2nd year Entrepreneurship module is one example of the School of Business’ Living Laboratory approach to teaching in practice. Here students work with one of the School’s Industry Advisory Board members, the National Council of the Blind (NCBI), to develop business plans for their charity shops. At PG level her work with the EU funded CHAMELEONS project aims to broaden PhD education to include multiple sectors and disciplines. Dr Mountford’s research on the need for interdisciplinary approaches to PhD education, particularly in the area of digital health, has been published in international peer reviewed journals such as Studies in Higher Education and JMIR.
