Darkness Into Light

Maynooth University - Phoneix Restaurant, North Campus

Maynooth University is a proud partner in this year’s first-ever Darkness into Light Maynooth event, which was launched on Monday, 13 April by a Maynooth alumnus and Kilcock native, Orla Fitzsimons from the Six Nations Championship Irish Women’s Rugby Team. The 5K walk/run this year will leave from our campus at 4:15am on Saturday 9 May.

In partnership with the local community, we are looking for volunteers to wake up bright and early to lend a hand on the day, as hundreds of walkers and runners greet the sunrise along Carton Avenue to remember, honour and support those affected by suicide and self-harm. Already, 425 people have signed up to participate.

Volunteers are needed for tasks such as stewarding participants along the course route, registration, parking, clean-up or t-shirt collection. If you would like to volunteer, please email Rebecca Doolin at [email protected].

Or, register for the event itself online. Those already registered can pick up their t-shirts in the Library Foyer on Tuesday, 28 April instead of doing so on the morning.

Darkness into Light is the leading fundraising event each year for Pieta House, the centre for suicide and self-harm.
