The Department of Education is delighted to announce that both programmes of initial teacher education (BSc.Ed and PME) have been reaccredited by the Teaching Council. The process of preparing for Céim reaccreditation within the Department was rich and collaborative, resulting in a revised conceptual framework and redeveloped elements for both programmes.
The Department was heartened by the many commendations of the review panel relating to all aspects of the submissions, recognising the coherence of the programmes and their incremental provisions for school placement. Of particular significance was the recognition that the programmes “represent a creative response to the accreditation process and demonstrate clear alignment with the student teacher’s trajectory of learning and professional development as reflective practitioners.” Students who commenced their BSc.Ed and PME programme in September 2022 are already engaging with the revised structure and content of the reaccredited programmes.
Congratulations to all involved from within the Department and across the university in preparing the submissions for reaccreditation. We would also like to thank the Review Panel, chaired by Dr Mary Fleming, for their professional and constructive approach to the process.
