Prof Doherty has contributed, as the National Expert for Ireland, to a new report on transparent and predictable working conditions in Europe.
The report, funded by the European Commission, assesses options for new legal rights so that all workers have more transparent and predictable working conditions. It looks, particularly, at addressing insufficient protection for workers in more precarious jobs, while limiting burdens on employers, and maintaining labour market adaptability.
The report has fed into a new Commission proposal for a Directive on Transparent and Predictable Working Conditions, which is a direct follow-up to the proclamation of the European Pillar of Social Rights.
Prof Doherty is Head of Maynooth University Department of Law and lectures courses to all first year law students on Introduction to Law, as well as Employment Law to BCL/ LLB students.
