This year marks the 25th anniversary of the execution of Nigerian activist and writer Ken Saro-Wiwa, and his eight colleagues, The Ogoni Nine. Dr Gemma Irvine, Vice-President for Equality and Diversity, Maynooth University, will launch “I am a Man of Peace: Writings Inspired by the Maynooth University Ken Saro-Wiwa Collection,” edited by Helen Fallon and published by Daraja Press. Maynooth University holds the death row correspondence of Saro-Wiwa to Sister Majella McCarron (OLA). The 21 essays and 42 poems included in the book are inspired by Saro-Wiwa’s ideals and activism.
