About

Professor Deborah Britzman, York Chair in Pedagogy and Psycho-Social Transformation, Distinguished Research Professor at York University, and a Fellow in the Royal Society of Canada is truly a leader of international reputation in shaping the contemporary debates in education. As a unique thinker Britzman combines education and psychoanalysis in a way that contributes to various sub-fields of education, represented also at Maynooth University. Her work is extensively cited in several research areas, such as educational theory, curriculum theory, teacher education and teacher, adolescent, and child learning development in educational contexts. She speaks therefore to all departments of education at Maynooth University. What is particularly unique, and a reason why Britzman’s work so effectively travels over different fields of research as well as national borders, is the truly pedagogical core of her thinking and writing.
