Dr. Zhouxiang Lu has been elected to the prestigious European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA).
The EASA is a non-governmental European association committed to promoting scientific and societal progress. Founded in Salzburg, Austria in 1990, the Academy brings together over 2000 eminent scholars and practitioners, including 38 Nobel Prize winners, from across Europe and other non-European countries. Members are elected for their remarkable accomplishments in science, arts, and governance, as well as their outstanding societal impact through their work, publications or comparable contributions. They are divided into seven classes: Humanities; Medicine; Arts; Natural Sciences; Social Sciences, Law and Economics; Technical and Environmental Sciences; and World Religions.
Dr. Lu is an Associate Professor of Chinese Studies within the School of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures. His research interests include nationalism, national identity, sport history and cultural history, and he has published extensively in these fields. He is one of the five newly-elected members in the EASA's Social Sciences, Law and Economics class.
