Some 300 first year students were welcomed by Maynooth University staff at Maynooth International Engineering College (MIEC) on the Fuzhou University (FZU) campus in southern China.
The newly founded MIEC offers four Maynooth University (MU) undergraduate programmes in the areas of electronic engineering, software engineering, robotics, and multimedia programming.
Vice-President Academic and Registrar of Maynooth University, Professor Aidan Mulkeen, participated in an opening ceremony to mark the start of the first academic year in MIEC and welcome the first official students at the Maynooth outpost in China.
The launch of the programmes is major step forward in Maynooth’s internationalisation strategy, and in sustaining a strong partnership that benefits MU and FZU in both teaching and research.
