Physics can be seen everywhere, from why the sky is blue to the workings of a computer. The attraction of studying physics for me was how it lets me understand me how everything in the Universe works, using just a few underlying principles.

I chose Maynooth University because of the opportunity to study a broad range of subjects taught by different departments, and the personal, friendly atmosphere you get from studying in a smaller university. In particular, I enjoyed the chance to work on lab experiments and even my own project beside professional researchers, which allowed me to explore and discover new aspects physics for myself.

Since leaving Maynooth University, I went on to study physics further, studying for a PhD making and trapping antimatter at CERN, and now I work as a Research Fellow at Imperial College London on measurements of cold atoms to test our understanding of gravity.
