Sustainability in Education: Highlights from the ‘Nature-Friendly Teacher Workshop’ in Diyarbakır, Turkey.
On February 24–25, 2025, Dr. Zerrin Doğanca Küçük led a two-day teacher workshop in Diyarbakır, in southeastern Turkey. The event brought together 120 primary school teachers to explore effective pedagogical approaches for teaching sustainability, ecological and water footprints, basic sustainable agricultural practices, and energy conservation to young students.
The workshop was organized by Dicle Electricity, a company providing electricity to six cities in the southeastern region. In addition to its work with young agricultural engineers and practicing farmers, Dicle Electricity aims to support educators in fostering sustainable practices and habits among students. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to sustainability and environmental education in the region.
