Dominic Goddings

I left school at the age of 16 with my Junior Cert. I worked nearly every day of my of my life until the recession hit the company I worked for in 2010. Sitting at home with no job prospects and a young family to support was heart breaking. After many weeks of soul searching I decided to go back to education and attain my Leaving Cert. It was in adult education where I met so many amazing teachers who inspired me to become a teacher. This was only the start of the journey, which continued in Maynooth University where as a mature student who was double the age of the average student was accepted into the class as an equal where age was not an issue. Four years later I graduated with a 2.1 in my BSc with Education in mathematics and physics. In Maynooth University I met some extraordinary people who helped me. I can safely say that coming back to education has changed my life. It is by far the most scary and empowering decision I have ever made and one that I will never regret. It's never to late to make a difference in your own life or someone else’s.
