Dr Heather Laird is Lecturer in English at University College Cork. She is a graduate of Maynooth University and of University College Dublin. She held the James and Mary Fox Research Fellowship at the Centre for Irish Studies at NUI Galway. Heather is a scholar of postcolonial literature, with additional interests in law, postcolonial theory and models of resistance. Heather published Subversive Law in Ireland 1879 – 1920 (2005) and edited a volume of Daniel Corkery’s critical writings, published in 2012. Most recently, Heather has published Commemoration (2018), a discussion of the politics of historical remembrance and the importance of radical counter-memory.
