World-class research based on a distinctive, interdisciplinary approach to the natural sciences, social sciences, engineering and technology, and the arts and humanities.
The MU International Office is the first point of contact for international students applying for full-degree, Erasmus, Study Abroad, and Summer School programmes, and supports MU students who wish to study abroad.
My work examines civil society mobilization on social justice and gender equality at national and European Union level, women’s movements and gender and political representation. I have also worked as a gender expert for advocacy organisations working on gender justice and equality issues and have supervised postgraduate student research on the mobilization of sexual minorities in Ireland and ethnic minority women and gender roles.

Assessing Supports for the Political Inclusion of Racial and Ethnic Minority Women in Ireland
Racial and ethnic minority women (REMW) in Ireland are largely unrepresented or excluded from local and national politics. Most research on women and politics concerns majority population white women. To date no research exists on REMW local political engagement and candidacy in Ireland. This research maps supports for and experiences of REMW in local political processes (candidacy for local political office) and develops with NGOs, stakeholders and academics a research consortium to theorise REMW political engagement/candidacy and design a future research programme on ERMW women’s access to local politics in Ireland and beyond. The overall outcomes of the ASPIRE project are 1. to support the conceptualisation of an intersectional approach to political candidacy, 2. develop a research design . 3. Create opportunities to improve the connections between NGOs, REMW, local authorities and political parties 4. establish networks to craft an internationally informed future research agenda and community of practice on the political inclusion of REMW.
