Kat leads internal communications at Maynooth University, creating systems and content that help colleagues stay informed, share achievements, and connect with one another. She also advises on communication approaches and works to improve coordination across the University, making it easier for staff to find and share important information.
She has more than a decade of experience in communications across higher education, nonprofit, and government sectors in Ireland and the U.S. Before joining MU, she managed the Enterprise Academy at TU Dublin, a Human Capital Initiative-funded programme focused on professional learning. In this role, she introduced product management principles to the co-design of professional learning programmes with industry, led communications and marketing efforts, and developed strategies to drive engagement.
Previously, she was Director of Outreach at UCLA’s Department of Architecture and Urban Design, where she led internal communications, managed a digital rebrand, and coordinated crisis communications during the COVID-19 pandemic. She was also responsible for industry partnerships and alumni engagement, working closely with leadership and communications teams to highlight the department’s work. Earlier in her career, she led digital communications for national campaigns at the Ad Council in New York and developed digital products shaped by research and analytics. She began her career at MacKenzie Communications, a San Francisco-based marketing and communications agency, where she gained experience in account management, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications.
