On 12 October, Professor Delia Ferri presented at a seminar entitled: ‘For an Accessible and Inclusive Culture’ (“Per una cultura accessibile e inclusiva”) hosted by the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rovereto, Italy (Museo di arte moderna e contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto - MART), and co-organised by Ornella Dossi (MART), Prof. Maria Della Lucia and Dr. Giulia Dore Principal Investigators of cluster on “Tourism, culture and creative industries” of the the iNEST project, funded under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (ECS 00000043 - CUP H43C22000540006, Piano Nazionale di Ripresa e Resilienza PNRR), and Prof. Delia Ferri Principal Investigator of the DANCING project, hosted by Maynooth University and funded by the European Research Council (ERC Grant Agreement No. 864182).
This event highlighted an important collaboration with MART, which is one the most important cultural hubs in Italy, and between the two research projects, DANCING and INEST. Such cross-university and cross-disciplinary initiative between DANCING and INEST builds on the ongoing Erasmus partnership between Maynooth and Trento. It also stems from a previous research collaboration between Maynooth School of Law and Criminology and the Faculty of Law in Trento under the Horizon 2020 Project Recreating Europe.
The event was opened by a welcome speech by Dr. Fergus Ryan, Head of the School of law and Criminology, alongside Prof. Paolo Macchi (Delegato del Rettore al Supporto alla disabilità – Associate Dean for Disability) and MART Deputy Director Denis Isaia. Professor Ferri’s contribution focused on accessible culture as a human right as enshrined in Article 30 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and presented some findings of research conducted within DANCING.
Professor Delia Ferri is Professor of Law at the School of Law and Criminology of Maynooth University and Co-Director of the Assisting Living and Learning (ALL) Institute.
