Synopsis
This paper provides an overview of Beyond 2022: Ireland’s Virtual Record Treasury, a project led by Trinity College Dublin, in collaboration with the National Archives, the National Archives (UK), the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland and the Irish Manuscripts Commission. The project aims to create a virtual reconstruction of the Records Treasury of the Public Record Office of Ireland, which was destroyed during the Irish Civil War in 1922. It will also compile an inventory of material destroyed in 1922, and identify surviving material and surrogate copies, or substitutes, available in various repositories in Ireland and the UK.
