To mark the first anniversary of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine the Centre for Military History and Strategic Studies at Maynooth University is holding an open seminar to examine and explain the context, conduct and consequences of the war in Ukraine.
Speakers include Prof Dr David Murphy, Dr John-Paul Newman, Oleg Chupryna and Prof Ian Speller who will discuss the war from political, military and societal perspectives to explain these events and to discuss the implications for Ukrainian, European and Irish security. Short presentations will be followed by plenty of time for questions.
This event is open to all staff and students at MU and is designed to provide an opportunity to reflect on the past year of war, to give an opportunity to explore these events, to ask questions, and to develop an understanding of issues including the nature of the ongoing military campaigns, the implication of increasing western support for Ukraine, the danger of escalation and the impact of Russian nuclear brinkmanship, and, of course, the human cost of the war.
For further details please contact Prof Speller.
