First faculty-led programme launched with Regis University, Colorado
In January 2017, a group of twelve undergraduate students from Regis University came to spend the spring semester at Maynooth University as part of the first one-semester faculty led programme. Regis University is a small private Jesuit university situated in Denver, Colorado, at the foot of Rocky Mountains.
Rocky Mountains form the backdrop behind Regis University’s Main Hall, which houses the University’s administrative offices.
Students are accompanied by a visiting faculty member Dr. Eric Fretz [Department Chair of Peace & Justice Studies, Regis University]. They take a compulsory class taught by Dr.Fretz and chose from the selection of classes available to Maynooth University international students. Dr. Fretz also teaches Maynooth undergraduate students an elective module, Writers & Themes, offered by the English Department.

Dr. Eric Fretz notes: “Regis University is delighted to partner with Maynooth University on our first faculty-led study abroad program. We have found the Maynooth faculty and staff to be exceptionally helpful and kind and we look forward to developing a long-term partnership between the two universities.” Accompanied by his wife and two children who now attend primary schools in Maynooth, Dr. Fretz quickly immersed himself into Irish life. It is expected that in the next three years, another 45 Regis students will visit Maynooth University on faculty-led programmes.
