Festival of Hurling - Coaching Workshops

Kildare GAA in partnership with Maynooth University GAA are hosting three Coaching Workshops this Friday (15th November) & Saturday (16th November).
 
Friday evening from 7.30pm – 9.30pm, Derek McGrath will host workshop one.
Venue: Iontas lecture theatre, North campus, Maynooth University.
Workshop 1 – Building A Team Culture Within A Squad
Derek McGrath is the former Waterford Senior Hurling Manager and current RTE Hurling Analyst.
 
Saturday morning from 10am – 11.45am, Paudie O’Neill will host workshop two.
Venue: Maynooth University All Weather Pitch, North Campus.
Workshop 2 – Coaching the Hurling Principals

  • The ability to improve decision making and skills under pressure.
  • The coach’s aim is to get them to play with/for/off each other.
  • Developing an attacking mentality throughout the entire team when in possession and out of possession.

Paudie is a former Tipperary Senior Hurling Coach & former GAA National Hurling Director.
 
On Saturday afternoon from 12.15pm – 2pm, Ken Hogan will host workshop three.
Workshop 3 – Coaching your Session through a Games Based Model.

  • How to effectively use games to promote learnings from matches.
  • The coaches aim is to use a wide variety of games based coaching as opposed to drills only coaching.

Ken is a former All Ireland winning player and All Star with Tipperary.
Ken has coached the Tipperary Senior Hurling team, the Maynooth University Hurling team to Ryan Cup success and recently the St. Rynaghs Senior Hurling team to this years Offaly Senior Hurling Championship.

For anyone attending on Saturday, there is ample parking facilities in Maynooth University North Campus Car Park beside the All Weather Pitch. Follow signs to workshop venues.
