Dr David Cowan, Maynooth University School of Law and Criminology, is to chair a panel on the use of LawTech in legal practice, one of three sessions in Lawtech in Ireland: Where We Are and Where We Are Going.
The workshop is organised by the Whitaker Institute and School of Law, University of Galway, and is funded by the College of Business, Public Policy and Law. The event takes place on Wednesday 19 October 2022 at the National University of Ireland in Merrion Square. It is to be chaired by Dr Rónán Kennedy of the School of Law, NUI Galway, and will bring together practitioners to look at the future of law and technology in Ireland.
Dr Cowan will chair a panel entitled Use of Lawtech by Solicitors, which features Nap Keeling of Ken Kennedy Solicitors, Paula Fearon of McCann Fitzgerald, Brian Horkan of Mason Hayes and Curran, and Anne Tuite & Katherine Kane of the Law Society.

Lawtech in the Courts, chaired by Dr Brian Barry, Technological University of Dublin. This panel features The Hon Mr Justice Richard Humphreys, High Court of Ireland; Anne Marie Gibbons, Courts Service; Gavin Sheridan, VizLegal; Gerard Groarke BL; and Stephen Dowling SC.
In-house, Start-ups, and Other Contexts, chaired by Dr John Danaher, University of Galway. This panel features Dermot Hennessy, Flutter Entertainment; Emmet Creighton, Lintel; Gerard Brady, Irish Water; Tanya Moeller, ServiceNow; Kate McKenna, Frontline Ventures; and Gráinne Bryan, FTI Consulting.
The event has been convened because there is an urgent need to explore what technological change means for Irish legal practice, and to identify opportunities for devlopment. The workshop aims to create an agenda for future discussion at the conclusion of discussions.
