Dr Paul Markey
Biography
Dr. Paul Markey is currently working as the Postdoctoral EDI/Access Research Assistant. Paul will primarily be working with the team establishing the National Centre for Inclusive Higher Education at Maynooth University. He will also be supporting the research and benchmarking of access structures nationally and internationally.
His career as a researcher spans over a decade. Paul studied Sociology and French in Trinity College before undertaking a master’s in Human Rights and Social Policy in Maynooth University. He was awarded a Hume Scholarship by Maynooth University to undertake a PhD in Applied Social Studies. His doctoral research investigated the potential and identified the need for Expert By Experience inclusion as a discrete stakeholder sphere in mental health social policy development, implementation, and oversight. He was awarded his PhD summa cum laude from Maynooth University in early 2024. He is Vice-Chair of Tusla’s Research Ethics Committee.
