Biography

June Pisaneschi is an Assistant Lecturer (0.5FTE) in the Froebel Department at Primary and Early Years Education at Maynooth University.

June teaches Maths Methods for students on the B.Ed Primary Education course and the Professional Master of Education programme. She has additional responsibilities in supporting student teachers on school placement experience. 

June is working towards an award of Doctor of Education under the supervision of Prof. Kate Wall and Dr Paul Adams at University of Strathclyde where she was employed as a Teaching Fellow in Primary Education from 2015 to 2024. Her research study examines the individual's journey in becoming a teacher of primary maths, with a particular focus on teacher identity and developing understandings of inclusive pedagogy. She has applied a social constructivist lens to examining the participant accounts as narrative portraits in a longitudinal qualitative case study design.

In addition to her work at Maynooth University, June continues to support MEd and MSc students with dissertation studies at University of Strathclyde. She has extensive experience in research study supervision across a range of courses and supports students from various international contexts. Her current supervision roles include students on the MEd/MSc in Autism Studies. 

June is a qualified primary school teacher and is currently registered as a teacher of primary education in both Ireland and Scotland. Her academic achievements include an award of MPhil in Education studies from University of Glasgow in 2004 and a PgCert in Supporting Teacher Learning from University of Strathclyde in 2017. She has also received Professional Recognition from the General Teaching Council for Scotland for improving classroom practice (2014) and in teacher learning (2017). 

June's prior experience in initial teacher education includes leadership of professional practice experience for both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching students. She also has interest and experience in developing new routes into teaching to support the widening access/widening participation agenda. 

She was awarded fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2020 for her contribution to leadership and teaching as Teaching Fellow, Depute Course Leader and Academic Selector for BA Primary Education at the Strathclyde Institute of Education.
