Dr Graham Heaslip, School of Business at Maynooth University, and his colleague Dr. Elizabeth Barber from the School of Business, University of New South Wales Australia, have received the prestigious 2014 Outstanding Paper Award from the Journal of Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management for their work on "Using the military in disaster relief: systemising challenges and opportunities".

The stringent evaluation criteria for this award include intellectual merit, presentation quality, rigour in theory, methodology, analysis and empiricism and recognise research that is likely to have a long-lasting impact on the field of humanitarian logistics research. The evaluation and review committee for the Journal of Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management concluded unanimously that the Heaslip and Barber paper was the best paper out of the 2014 journal publications that they analysed.
