About

Ian joined MaynoothWorks in October 2024. In line with Maynooth University’s strategic plan to enhance research excellence, Ian works across all the five MU Research Beacons, with a primary focus is on the Health and Wellbeing research beacon.

Ian has an extensive background in biology, holding a BSc in Biomedical Science from Queen’s University Belfast, later completing his PhD in Immunology at Maynooth University with thesis titled “MIF Licensing Enhances Mesenchymal Stromal Cell Efficacy in Allergic Asthma”. He later worked as a post-doctoral researcher in Maynooth University exploring the effect of MIF on MSC efficacy in acute respiratory distress syndrome and the influence of MIF on trained immunity.

Ian is open to discussing early stage ideas as well as research commercialisation opportunities with all researchers and can be contacted via email ([email protected]) or by phone (+353 1 474 7220).
