Background: Following a Masters degree in Geoinformatics from TERI University, India and a Bachelors degree in Chemistry from Miranda House, University of Delhi, Rumia worked as a consultant with International Water Management Institute (IWMI). A keen interest in science and the pursuit of an academic career led her to complete a PhD in Earth Observation and Climate Change from Teagasc and University of Galway, working on estimating high resolution surface soil moisture using satellite, meteorological and in -situ data to develop a farm management decision support system for minimising soil compaction and efficient nutrient utilisation. During her PhD studies, Rumia got the opportunity to engage in Science Communication and EPE activities and an introduction to technology transfer. Post- PhD she worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Teagasc on soil moisture dynamics.
