Dr Farhad Ahmed

Biography
Dr. Farhad Ahmed is an Assistant Professor of International Business and Programme Director for MSc International Business at Maynooth University's School of Business. He earned his PhD in International Business from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. Dr. Ahmed’s research lies at the intersection of Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and International Business, with a particular focus on the interplay between institutional and entrepreneurial factors influencing firms' early internationalization from emerging markets.
Before joining Maynooth University, he served as an Assistant Professor at Brunel University London and Monash University and held postdoctoral research fellowships at Dublin City University and Swansea University.
Dr. Ahmed has been actively involved in the global research community, presenting at leading international conferences across the US, Canada, UK, Germany, Italy, Poland, Sweden, and beyond. His work has received numerous accolades, including:
- Best Paper Award in the International Business Track at the British Academy of Management Conference (2022)
- Best Paper Nomination in the Gender and Entrepreneurship Track at the Academy of Management Conference (2021)
- Emerald Literati Award (2020) for research published in the Asia-Pacific Journal of Business Administration.
His research is widely published in top-tier journals, including: International Business Review, Management International Review, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, International Marketing Review, Entrepreneurship & Regional Development, Journal of Business Research, and International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour & Research, and more.
Beyond publishing, he has been guest editor for an ABS-ranked 3 journal* and serves as a reviewer for leading journals, such as the British Journal of Management, International Small Business Journal, Journal of Business Research and Thunderbird International Business Review.
Dr. Ahmed is also an invited speaker and PhD examiner, having delivered guest lectures at the University of Dundee, LUT University Finland, and Amity International University, and served as a PhD external examiner at the University of Manchester, University of the West of Scotland, and Sunway University.
For his contributions to business education and research, he has been awarded a Fellowship of the Commercial Education Society of Australia (FCES).
