Supervisors: Mary P. Corcoran / Rebecca King O'Riain

I hold a BA in Sociology & Business Management, & an MSc in IT-Enabled Innovation, both completed at Maynooth University, & both awarded 1st class hounors. During my BA I applied for and was awarded the 1916 Bursary.

Presently, I am a PhD candidate within the Sociology Department at Maynooth University. In 2024 I was awarded Irish Research Council funding to conduct research on immigration into Ireland. More specifically, the PhD will research immigration & demographic change in the townland of Balbriggan, North Dublin. Its aims are to explore & illustrate the lived experiences of immigrants who have decided to make Balbriggan their home. It will employ a grounded theory approach using qualitative research methods. The theoretical approach will be developed drawing primarily on urban sociology, sociology of migration & the sociology of race and ethnicity. Concepts such as multiculturalism, super-diversity, interculturalism, integration & community conviviality will be utilised as & when they apply to this study.
