The Department of Adult and Community Education is renowned for being the leading academic centre for research and pedagogy in Adult Learning in Ireland. Adult education is the study of how we learn and develop as adults to collaborate in the creation of a just, equitable and sustainable society. Adults bring their personal and social experiences into education: emotionally, intellectually and physically. We transform lives and communities through adult and community education. Every course we run, from certificates to doctoral workshops, is learner centred. We create rich and supportive learning environments based on active participation and open discussion.
