Student Prizes in Anthropology

The Anthropology Department is delighted to announce the student prizes for 2020-21.

  • Undergraduate

Best 1st year student in Anthropology
The prize will be awarded to the student who earns the highest overall grade - €100 All4One voucher.
 
Best 2nd year student in Anthropology
The prize will be awarded to the student who earns the highest overall grade - €100 All4One voucher.
 
Best 3rd year student in Anthropology
The prize will be awarded to the student who earns the highest overall grade - €100 All4One voucher.
 
Best Undergraduate Anthropology Thesis
The academic staff of the Anthropology Department will nominate three outstanding undergraduate dissertations which will be read and evaluated by our External Examiner who will select the Best Undergraduate Anthropology Thesis - €100 All4One voucher.

Achievement Award
The prize will be awarded to a student in recognition of their outstanding effort in the pursuit of excellence in the final year - €75.00 All4One voucher.

Anthropology Community Award
The prize will be awarded to a student in recognition of their sustained and significant contributions to the Anthropology department and to other students - €75.00 All4One voucher.

Fiona Larkan Memorial Prize for Best Overall Student


This prize will be awarded to the student who earns the highest overall grade.
The prize honours Dr Fiona Larkan who graduated with a PhD in Anthropology from Maynooth University in 2008. After graduating, she became one of the founding members of the Combat Diseases of Poverty Consortium (CDPC), an Institute set up under the Strategic Partnership Programme between Irish Aid and the HEA in 2007. She then moved to the Global Health Programme at Trinity College Dublin, where she directed MSc degree students from 2011 until her untimely death in December 2017.

Abdullahi El-Tom Prize for the Best MA Thesis

Anthropology - Abdullahi El Tom - Maynooth University

The academic staff of the Anthropology Department will nominate three outstanding MA dissertations which will be read and evaluated by an External Evaluator who will select the Best MA Thesis.
This award honours Dr Abdullahi El-Tom in recognition of his long-standing contributions to the Department of Anthropology at Maynooth University and his achievements in both public and academic anthropological service.
