About
Dr. Grace H. Zhou holds a Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Irish Research Council. She received her PhD in Anthropology from Stanford University, and MA and BA degrees from Columbia University. Her research and writing explore transnational intimacies, care and precarity in late capitalist and postsocialist contexts, and the mobility of settler colonial formations. At Maynooth University, she is working on her project "Theorizing Settler Socialism: Economy, Identity, and Power in Post-Socialist Central Asia," as well as her first book manuscript, an ethnographic monograph titled Parasitic Intimacies: Life, Love, and Labor in the Asian Borderlands. She is also working with Professor Hana Cervinkova on an edited series "Theorizing Race and Indigeneity in Contemporary Central, Eastern, Southeastern Europe and Eurasia." Dr. Zhou's work has been awarded and supported by the National Science Foundation, Social Science Research Council, Irish Research Council, and the Institute for Citizens and Scholars. She is also a poet and her debut chapbook, Soil Called a Country, was selected for Newfound's 2023 Emerging Poets Chapbook Series.
