The IRC New Foundations call has now opened.

The IRC New Foundations call has now opened. The New Foundations 2023 scheme supports eligible researchers who intend to pursue research, networking and/or dissemination activities within and across the diversity of disciplines. Eligible applicants must, on the call deadline of 6 June 2023, hold a contract of sufficient duration with Maynooth University to carry out the proposed research from the project start date November 2023 until the project end date. Further information on the eligibility criteria is available on the call page and in the call document.

 There will be two new strands, 15 and 16, in partnership with the Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD) and the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), respectively.  In addition, strand 1a (the open strand), strand 4, strand 4b and strand 10 will open again this year.

 There will be a webinar for New Foundations on Wednesday, 3 May from 9.30am to 11.00am. which will include presentations from the strategic funding partners on their respective strands and a Q&A after each presentation.  Please find a copy of the agenda attached and you may register at the link here.  New Foundations 2023 Strands

  • Strand 1a: Enhancing Civic Society within a national context (max €12,000)
  • Strand 4: ‘A Better World’ New Foundations Awards, in partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs (max €10,000)
  • Strand 4b: Education for Global Citizenship and Sustainable Development New Foundations Awards, in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs (Irish Aid), the Department of Education and the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (max €10,000)
  • Strand 10: Police Community Relations Collaborative Project Grant, in partnership with the Policing Authority (max €10,000)
  • Strand 15: ‘Social Enterprise Impact’ New Foundations Award in partnership with the Department of Rural and Community Development (max €20,000)
  • Strand 16: ‘Competition and the electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Ireland’ New Foundations Award in partnership with the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (max €15,000)

Outcome of Scheme - September 2023

The RDO is required to endorse applications as part of this call. Therefore, budgetary pre-approval by the RDO is mandatory in order for us to endorse your application. Applicants should send their budgets and their applications for review and approval by 26th May 2023.
