Lecturer at the School of Law and Criminology, Dr Rhiannon Bandiera co-authored article published in volume 29(1) of the Journal of Law and Medicine, entitled “Born with a Plastic Spoon in Their Mouth? – Substitution, Interchangeability, and Marketing of Biosimilars”. The article analyses the slow uptake of biosimilar medicines globally because of competitors’ promotional materials using certain terms with technical meanings, such as “interchangeable” and “substitution”, in a misleading way. The article compares the US and Australian legal and regulatory framework for pharmaceutical marketing and promotion.
