Team Teaching Project

Wednesday, June 3, 2015 - 14:30

A Team Teaching Pilot Project was initiated in collaboration with the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST) in February 2015. Its aim was to explore how we could facilitate effective co-planning, co-teaching and collaborative reflection among student teachers and their co-operating teachers. The project involved fifteen Professional Master of Education (PME) students.

Following a workshop, led by Angela Rickard and Dr. Thomas Walsh, each student teacher with (where possible) an experienced teacher, co-planned and co-taught a lesson in their placement school. Each pair then prepared a poster for the Team Teaching seminar. The seminar took place in Renehan Hall on Monday 27th April 2015 and was attended by principals, deputy principals and teachers from many of our partner schools.

The outcomes of the research on this initial phase of the project will be presented at the forthcoming ECER conference in Budapest in September and showcased at the Féilte event for teachers in October. For more details please visit the PDST website.
