Maynooth University positioned to play critical role as Minister Bruton rolls out new regional jobs strategy
The Mid East region of Kildare, Meath and Wicklow suffered heavily during the recent financial crisis with a loss of over 30,000 jobs. Whilst some 14,000 of these have been recovered in the last two years, the plan aims to create an additional 25,000 jobs and provides a blueprint for their creation by 2020.

John O’Brennan: Bosnian-type deal not a solution for Syria
John O' Brennan published a new piece in The Irish Times, examining the Dayton Agreement which ended the war in Bosnia in 1995 as a potential template for ending the civil war in Syria. The piece was written to coincide with the recent conference (18 December) on Bosnia held at the university.

Enterprise Ireland launches Student Entrepreneur Awards 2016
The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD announced details of the Enterprise Ireland Student Entrepreneur Awards for 2016. The Awards, now in their 35th year, are open to all fulltime third-level students in the Republic of Ireland. Co-sponsored by Enterprise Ireland, Cruickshank Intellectual Property Attorneys, Grant Thornton and Intel, the Awards attracted submissions from over 1,200 students in 2015.
