Launch of Maynooth Green Campus
Maynooth University is embarking on a project to achieve Green Campus status. This is a European-wide extension of the highly successful Green Schools programme which is administered in Ireland by An Taisce. Currently, only a few Irish third level institutions have met the requirements for Green Campus status, which involves campus-wide efforts to achieve better sustainability in areas such as energy consumption, water consumption, waste management, transport, biodiversity etc.
Maynooth University has special characteristics being a semi rural campus, and this project uniquely involves three partners (Maynooth University, St. Patrick's College Maynooth and Trocaire) and seeks to capitalise on its particular strengths in areas such as Developing countries sustainability and climate justice.
Professor Phillip Nolan, will speak to launch to campaign and there will be a number of presentations and displays. In addition, the spectacular winning entries from the an An Taisce coastal photography competition will be on display in the Library foyer.
