Maynooth University Department of History

The Department of History is proud to sponsor and participate in the forthcoming “Greater Ireland & Greater Portugal” conference, to be held in Lisbon from April 7th to the 9th. Organized by Maynooth, the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies (University of Notre Dame), the Nova University of Lisbon and the University of Aberdeen, the conference seeks to examine, side by side, the bonds of language, culture and memory that held together Portuguese and Irish communities scattered across the globe, as well as the links with the home country and domestic politics. Speakers from twelve institutions in eight different countries include Maynooth’s Professor Filipe Ribeiro de Meneses and IRC doctoral fellow Thomas McGrath.
