Launch of Maynooth Studies in Local History volumes

The five latest volumes to appear in The Maynooth Studies in Local History series, edited by Professor Raymond Gillespie (Four Courts Press: Dublin, 2021), were launched in Pugin Hall, Maynooth by Professor James Kelly (Dublin City University) on Thursday 11 November. The Dublin Cattle Market's decline, 1955-73 (Declan O’Brien); Denis Brenan Bullen (1802-66) Inspector of Anatomy for the Province of Munster: the controversial career of a Cork surgeon (Michael Hanna); Peadar Cowan (1903-62): Westmeath GAA administrator and political maverick (Tom Hunt); Rural tensions in nineteenth-century Knock, County Mayo (Frank Mayes) and The impact of the Great Famine on Sir William Palmer's estates in Mayo, 1840-69 (David Byrne).
