Students from Zhejiang University

From July 31st to August 21st the Department of Computer Science is hosting a group of seventeen
3rd year Computer Science students from MU’s partner in China, Zhejiang University. The students
are here for an annual summer school which has been taking place since 2006 and is organised by
Dr. Joe Timoney. The students have had advanced classes in a number of academic areas including
formal methods for computer science, computer vision, music technology, computer security, virtual
reality, and information retrieval. They also have made a number of cultural visits including to Dublin
Castle, and social activities to Howth Summit, playing pitch and putt, and cooking together. It is very
enjoyable experience for all of us and really contributes to maintaining our long-standing relationship.
