This research focuses specifically on the origin and perception of Irish Cultural heritage in the late 19th century.
This is a multidisciplinary investigation of early Irish society and culture with an integrated framework involving literature, history, archaeology, placename and landscape studies.
Staff in the Centre are collaborating with a number of external partners in the multi-disciplinary study of the so-called Black Pig’s Dyke (commissioned by Cavan, Monaghan, Longford, Roscommon and supported by the Heritage Council).
This involves an integration of new discoveries from national infrastructural development in a review of the Bronze Age in Ireland (NRA funded).
