Results of the National College English Test Band 4 (CET-4) for the second half of 2019 were announced recently. This was the first year that the Maynooth International Engineering College programme could take part in the National test due to this being the inaugural year for the MIEC programmes. 261 MIEC students undertook the exam in total, of which 227 passed successfully (with a score of 425 points or greater). Of the 227 students, 55 students obtained excellent results of more than 550 points. Overall, the pass rate was 87% for the MIEC students, far exceeding the overall pass rate of Fuzhou University by nearly 12 percentage points, making the MIEC the top placed department within the College of Science and Engineering, and second place overall within Fuzhou University.
These results demonstrate the focus MIEC places on English language development by providing its students with an immersive English language support offering. MIEC students receive extra English language training before commencing their academic programmes and are given intensive English language supports throughout their degree programme.
Congratulations to all our MIEC students who took part and performed so well in the National College English Test.
